Happy Tails

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, May 17, 2017
We adopted Bella - the chiquawa/whippet. She is a very sweet dog and we spoil her. She has the run of the back yard and loves the warm weather. I will send you pictures and also I want to get her microchip changed to our names.  We love her very much and she is fitting in awesomely. She loves to ride in the vehicle so when we go on holidays we will all enjoy it.

Iris 2

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, May 17, 2017
I adopted Iris and welcomed her into my home in December 2016. She is
a lovely little dog that was rescued from California. Her first few
weeks at my home, she was reluctant to go outdoors (must have wondered
about all our snow?) but has since come to love the backyard and going
for walks.

Iris has become so much a part of my family, it’s hard to remember
what life was like without her. She enjoys short road trips with me
but particularly takes pleasure in her role as official lap dog and
truly loves being close and snuggling. I can’t tell you how much joy
she brings me when she greets me with her "little happy dance"

She has established friendships with all my family and is excited when
they come to visit.

I am grateful for the Little Mutts for bringing us together. I wish
you every success in your future rescue work.

Stanley 2

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, May 17, 2017
We just wanted to give you an update on how Stanley's doing! In short, he is doing awesome :). He adjusted to life in our home really quickly, and has continued to be a laid back, go with the flow guy. He was initially a bit unsure of our rabbit Lyla, but after a few meet and greets with her, he's gotten used to her!

Stanley loves going on long walks with us, and then settles down for naps when we get home. He is eating the doggie stew we made for him really quickly when we feed him. He also seems to love the kibble we bought him, so we use it for most of his treats!

Today we went down to the Sue Higgins dog park in the south, which is a fully enclosed park. We initially had him on a long leash to work on his recall (he gets easily distracted!), but then we let him off leash for a bit. He was pretty good! He loves meeting dogs and people, but so far hasn't really been into playing with the dogs. We will see if that changes if he meets the right dog.

Stanley sleeps in our bed with us, and thankfully is not an early riser! We keep looking at Stanley and remarking how incredibly lucky we are to have found this dog! He is everything we were looking for in a dog, and has been almost issue-free so far. We absolutely love him!

We have bought Stanley a new harness, so we can return your harness when we see you next! Finally, we have been working on training. He loves his kibble, so it has been pretty easy to hold his attention so far. There's a link below to a video we took yesterday of Stanley sitting on command!

Thank you again for all of your help. We are so happy with our new dog!

Little Masin has been such a great addition to our family! He still is shy and uncertain about new people, but he has become very attached to our family and his dog sister, Pepper. He loves to be constantly pet and will paw at you if you take your hands off him for more than 10 seconds. He loves to cuddle and sits on our laps for hours every day. He loves to go on lots of short walks. Masin has a very special place in our heart and we are so glad he is ours!

Maxine Now Millie

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, May 17, 2017
Just to let you know that Maxine has settled well into our family.  Her name is now Milly and she is truly a delight.  The first meeting with our two cats went well.  I would say she has been around cats before as she was quite comfortable with them checking her out.  They are indifferent to her as they are to our other dog but in our world if there is no hissing and spitting it is a success.  She has made herself at home and seems to be quite happy to be here.

Ellie - previously Ginger

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, May 17, 2017
Everything has been going beyond great with Ellie (previously Ginger). I think it's safe to say that Ellie and I are soulmates and I was meant to be her fur-ever.

She was a little skittish and weak when I first got her but has come a long way. Her back right leg still constantly twitches due to nerve damage but we've been trying to strengthen it. I don't think the twitch will ever go away but that being said, she will always be the best twerker around because of it. She goes to Doggy Daycare a few days a week while mom is at work to break up the week. She is selective with who she picks as friends but loves it when we pull up to Daycare, apparently she is quite the flirt with the boy dogs. We also love to go to the dog park together where she runs her sweet little heart out, especially when she finds a friend her size.

Both Ellie and I couldn't be happier. I look at her everyday and my heart wants to explode.

I've also attached some photos.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cara :)

Sophie 2

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Sophie is doing really good. She gets along with everyone, is happy, and has great walks with me.
She walks nicely besides me without tugging on the leash.

She also does not mind the cats, though for the most part, she stays away from them.

Her appetite is getting better (not fantastic), but she is energetic and happy.
I think she has put on a bit of weight (she is not as bony on the spine).

It's fun to see her greet my kids when they get home from school, she gets so excited to see them.

She likes to go out in the back  yard, along my older cat and a human 😊
We are slowing teaching her to go in the yard on her own.

Overall, she is a delight.
Thanks very much for her,

Cheska is doing very well and is very happy in her new home. She was very tired and slept a lot at first. We changed her diet over to raw meat, and she loves it, always asking for seconds! She put on a little weight and also her hair is getting darker. She loves to be in the kitchen , there’s where all the good stuff is!
We took her to the vet because despite brushing her teeth, the bad breath never really went away.
Turned out she had a lump in the roof of her mouth, covering the back of 2 incisors, food got trapped in there and destroyed the 2 teeth.
The lump was sent in and came back benign and the 2 teeth had to be removed. She had a full cleaning done as well.
She is a lot more tollerant to all our other animals even plays but she has a BIG mind of her own !

We are so lucky to have her she’s a JOY!

Sophia #2

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, May 17, 2017
Sophia now goes outside ALL the time for a pee, even in all this snow. Even though she is from California, she has no problem with our record amounts of snow. We have shoveled paths in the yard for the four dogs. She's a real trooper. She barks at us whenever she wants something. She would really love to be able to talk.

Sophia and Felix love to cuddle up together for an afternoon nap. Sophia likes to get a bird's eye view of things, so she gets up on the back of the dog bed, or in this case, on the card table in front of the patio doors. She likes to look out the window when we're driving too.

She's quite the acrobat. She jumps from the floor to the dog couch; from the dog couch to the card table and then to the armchair. She loves to play and is usually the one who initiates it. She'll play with the big dogs as if she were a big dog.

Chewing big bones is her favorite thing to do (besides eat) and when she's done munching, she'll throw the bone up in the air and run around with it. She has become the life of the party around here.

We are so grateful to have Sophia in our lives and a part of our family and I'm sure Felix is happy to have a cuddle buddy.

Thanks again for all you do for the animals.

We are SO delighted with Karma. She is just an awesome addition to our family.

After some much needed potty training, her only issue is trying to get on her favorite blankie before her big brother! She is a very smart little girl, and learns SO quickly. We’re very impressed. She’s learning how to be a dog – dog from her brother without having any stress on her heart at all. It’s been hilarious though watching her… it’s like you can see in her face.. “uumm ok, so I guess I just chew on this rope then?” ha ha! We are slowly getting her to play with us humans too… Its so sad to think these poor dogs have never played before… but she is getting it, and has even dropped a few play bow’s in the off leash with strange dogs!

She is learning ALL about winter… and has grown quickly to like the snow, at least until it drops below -10! We tried sweater and booties but she flatly refuses to be treated any differently than her big brother. It’s been a true joy to see her just give er in the off leash area behind our home! She’s also the best napper we have ever seen. Such a lazy gal!! But she deserves it.

Our Jasper was a rescue as well, but he was rescued at 3 days old so there definitely wasn’t any behavior/temperament issues, whereas with Karma, we have been able to watch her transform from a scared – survival oriented, anxiety filled little girl, into a confident happy DOG enjoying the lighter side of life. VERY rewarding to say the least.

Thank you so much for checking in! I keep Cathy (foster mom) on my facebook so she can see how’s shes doing as well.

All the best to you and to LMR. You’re making the world a better a place!
