Sandy (now called Dixi)

Amy Gowertz - Tuesday, February 16, 2010

I just wanted to send along a note about Sandy (now Dixi), who I adopted
from your organization on January 1st 2010. Dixi is a sweet natured little
girl who obviously went through something very traumatic.  At first, she
didn't even like me to pet her from above.  She would cower and roll on her
back and pee.  She is slowly coming along and has made some great
improvements in the last month and a half.  She has never nipped at me
although her foster mom said she might and is learning to like car rides
when previously, she would shake and run away from the car.  I'm sure she
thought she had died and gone to heaven upon realizing that she gets to eat
homemade meat, rice and veggie meals almost daily. Not to mention all the
yummy and healthy meat treats she gets! Although she is still quite timid at
times, she is really enjoying her dog agility classes and running outside
with our other dog KD. And let me tell you, she is FAST!!!  But she only
wants to please and comes as soon as I call her back to me. We hope to enrol
her in a doggy play group along with her sister KD in the next few weeks
because KD isn't always the most social dog. And I have to tell you that she
is so good with my bunny!  She just sniffs him and leaves him be which is
just fine by BunBun.  So, here are some pictures of my little shadow
enjoying her new home.  Thank you for making it possible for her to come to
live with us!

Pepper (now called Cali)

Amy Gowertz - Friday, February 12, 2010
This is Cali (California Girl) formerly Pepper. We adopted this perfect little girl in October and she has worked her way so far into our hearts it amazing. Her big brother Mic, the 95 lbs bouvier still seems a little unsure about her as she tries to assume the "pack leader" role, it is too funny. Thank you Little Mutts for our girl. We love her so much.

Since Max came into my life in July, it's been so amazing to watch him become such an amazing little pooch! He joined me and my other little one, Ava, and soon became the "little man" in our family. He is very protective of us, and I'm working with him to make him a little less so when it comes to encountering other dogs on our walks. When he is in the off-leash, he is fine, but when we are walking through our neighbourhood, he gets quite "manly" to other people and dogs. We are working on it, and he's calming down. It's hard not to laugh, the way he gets so riled up when he's only about 17 lbs!
When I adopted Max, I was fully informed of the twisted front left paw that he has, which my vet informed me is a result of over-breeding. Max probably came from a puppy mill originally, before he found his way to the shelter in California. Max has arthritis in this paw, and he is in fact, very protective of all of his paws, and does not like them to be touched! Clipping his nails is quite the task, and requres 2 people! I started him on glucosamine in the fall, and it has made such a huge difference! He is so much more active and happy, he used to whine when he'd get up, much like an elderly person would, but he's only about 2! Now he runs and plays just like any other young dog!
He is very affectionate, and he has been so easy to train, I can't believe how lucky I am! He and his big sister love to play, and over the last 6 months, have come to be pals, with the odd squabble over toys, or my affections, just like any dogs would do!
It's made such a difference in my life to have Max, and see what a lovely little 'dude" he has become! Keep up the great work at Little Mutts!

Mucho is so great! He is very comfortable around people and calm and loves to be petted. He is pretty laid back and seems to be settling in quickly.
He is such a cutie pie. He is very affectionate. He is not destructive or into anything that he's not supposed to be into.  He is eating very well!
We are so grateful to have Mucho the Smucho.  We all love him and he's going to love it here!
Thanks again!

Charmin (now called Karma) and Eli

Amy Gowertz - Saturday, January 30, 2010
Karma and Eli are great little dogs! Karma is definitely the alpha in my pack, along with old-man Eli who is the perfect gentleman. Karma loves her morning loves and massages while Eli in more of an evening snuggler. They both love their walks and to sleep with their dad while we watch tv. Treats are a BIG hit with both, and the occasional dish of soft food is always a big event. My pack is coming along quite well, and there it no shortage of attention and rubs for both my Karma-girl and Mr. Eli. Thanks Little Mutts for the perfect two dogs for me.

Here are a couple of resized pics of Hannah and her new brother, Kenner.  I wouldn't trade my babies for the world.  Her picture is all over facebook and everyone loves her.  She is doing so great with the cold weather.  Her coat is fluffier [I trimmed it a bit] and her feet are tolerating the cold alot better too.  Her eyes still run and she takes a long time to eat.
Thank you and hope you enjoy her photos,

My new mom and I got together in October 2009. It took a little while for us to get to know eachother because I was so scared after all I had been through and coming to Calgary on a big plane from California. I did not like the snow at first but now it’s fun. My mom puts a pink fur hooded sweater on me to go out. She says she wants to make Paris Hilton jealous. She bought me a Christmas party dress and when we go to deliver meals to seniors citizens on Sundays, they all tell me how beautiful I look.  My mom and I love eachother so much we never separate. We’d like to thank Little Mutts Rescue for helping us find love.

Kylie (now called Mo)

Amy Gowertz - Thursday, January 14, 2010

A couple of pictures attached.

Kylie has undergone a name change and now goes by Mo.  She's a crazy little mutt, full of curiosity and just loves to play.  The first picture is her at Nosehill Park.  She likes nothing better than an hour or so meeting other dogs and running along the trails.  The second picture is her at home, getting ready to take over the couch.  She's been a great addition to the house, and i've only had to replace one rug :)

Delgado (now called Diego)

Amy Gowertz - Wednesday, January 13, 2010
Just a quick note with an update on Delgado.
He is doing very well!   The cat and him had one run in when they first met and ever since they stay away from each other.  It’s hilarious, they walk right by each other and don’t even look at each other.  I think Delgado is scared of the cat and the cat doesn’t know what to make of him yet.
He is settling in very nicely.   He’s smart, cuddly and full of energy.   He has brought a lot of joy into our home.   He sleeps in his bed, on the floor, next to me and waits until I get up in the morning and put him out to do his business.  He has not had any accidents in the house.     He goes for a minimum of two walks a day and really likes his walks.   He has other neighbourhood dogs he plays with and he’s really good around them.
Attached are a couple of pictures of my little buddy!
