We adopted Beau on September 21, 2013. Beau was very affectionate right from the beginning but still a little uneasy. As each day passes we have seen many changes in him such as playing with his toys more frequently, and exploration of his new home. After only two months he is very settled into his home and our routines. Beau has free run of our home and his favorite spot is on a chair where he can look out the window.
He loves to play fetch and run down the hallway chasing his ball and shaking his stuffed weasel. Every once in awhile he takes a loaf of bread from the pantry and will hide it somewhere in the house. My girlfriend thinks he likes the smell of the bread. He doesn’t mind having a bath and is getting used to having his beard washed. He likes car rides and loves to go for long walks. As Beau is from Texas he was not impressed with the first snowfall. He has adjusted well to the snow but takes care of business rather quickly when it's cold.
We have always purchased large dogs from breeders in the past but it is a special feeling when you give a dog a home that truly needs one. It has been a rewarding experience to adopt a two year old dog and much less work than we anticipated. I recommend anyone looking for a pet to seriously consider giving a rescue dog a good home.
