We adopted Isla (now Maebe – pronounced "maybe") in January of this year. I was first drawn to her picture because of her "electric-socket fur". It was wild and stuck out everywhere. Denis and I drove down to Calgary one beautiful Sunday in January to go meet her. As soon as we walked into her foster mum’s house I knew she was the one. Maebe lived with two other dogs and everyone was so excited to see us! We were throwing toys for her. She would start to chase them and but get halfway and then come back because she wanted to be close to us. Michelle said she has never seen a foster attach themselves so firmly to someone they had just met. That was all we needed to hear! We drove back later that week in a snow storm to pick her up.
It’s amazing to see the progress she has made. She used to be terrified of going for car rides and now she jumps right into the back seat! Loud trucks used to scare her and have no effect on her anymore.
She gets along great with my two cats. She enjoys the company with most dogs, as long as she can sit in complete indifference of them. She and I are currently doing obedience classes to help cover the basics and it’s a great bonding activity for us!
I bring her to work with me sometimes and she absolutely loves it! She runs up to greet everyone and is a total hit in the office.
Thank you Little Mutts for bringing this wonderful, funny, sweet little dog into our lives. She makes me laugh every day and my heart swells with love every time I look at her.
Keep up the great work so other people can feel the same joy as we, and other adopters do!
