To be honest…we’d been looking for a few months – for a Yorkie!! It was important that we “rescue” as we didn’t want to add to the breeding problem. We’d even been on sites in Toronto as there didn’t seem to be one rescued Yorkie in the Calgary area, or if there was they were snapped up quite quickly. Then after a few months of looking – either the dog didn’t like cats – of which we have two – or they needed a large back yard – we live in a townhome with limits – or they couldn’t do our stairs – again, many!! Then one day on Little Mutts site – there she was – young enough to add energy to our life –in need of a good home – BUT she was a poodle!!! BUT WE FELL IN LOVE WITH HER– Little Mutts were great – we met her at her foster home and voiced our concerns about the cats, etc. so the foster mum bought her to our home and she fit in right away. We bought her home just prior to Christmas so she was our Christmas present to ourselves. We are active empty nesters and wanted a dog to complete our little family and go on trips to Invermere regularly. She was named Mimi but we thought she suited Trixie given her character and ability to be a trooper and add energy to our lives. She came from California in one of our worst winters and was a trooper in getting into the snow and cold every day for her outings – she was a trooper when she got a chemical in her eye at the groomers and was diagnosed with Ulcerated cornea’s in both eye’s – hardly a whimper as she withstood the daily routine of eye drops – and a real trooper when my partner takes her for a jog – she pulls ahead and keeps up!!. We are so happy with Trixie and she is my new attachment – follows me everywhere!!. Thank you Little Mutts for little Trixie – don’t know what we’d do without our little poodle now and our neighbors have yorkie’s next door that we can pet…
