Thank you Little Mutts Rescue and Marvis for fostering my little gem Red. I wanted a small, non- shedding dog that would play with my dog Marley. Well I got half of what I wanted - Red sheds big time but I just went out and bought a shedding wand and groom him every day. Once Red is groomed Marley jumps up for his turn ( being a poodle he does not shed but he enjoys the brushing anyway). Red and Marley wrestle, chase and play tug with all of the toys and yes just like other siblings they sometimes really fight. Red can be a little aggressive and is bound and determined he is going to be the Alpha dog - he always wants to be closest to me. I am trying to train him so he knows that there is plenty of me to go around. He has a tendency to want everything that Marley has and that is when the fights usually break out. He has one other bad habit - he is a digger and dug him and Marley out of the yard and into the neighbors and the two of them escaped down the alley. My neighbor called and luckily they had not gotten too far so now they are not allowed into the big back yard until I cut down the perennial's and lay some 2 by 8's down and fasten them to the fence. They have access to the patio so they still have plenty of place to run plus they love sunning themselves on the patio table. Red is a good little traveler and enjoys going to my sister's house in Drumheller where he and Marley get to play with the other 8 family dogs that are in and out of the yard depending on who is visiting. After a couple of days in Drumheller, the two get buckled in and curl up on the passenger seat and just sleep - it is exhausting visiting your cousins. Red has been a great addition to my family - he curls up between me and Marley at night and has fit right in. He does not like to be separated from me in the house - he cries and scratches at any closed door. Also when he and Marley are not playing - Red has to be at my side or preferably on my lap. He has found his forever home - even if he does shed and is an escape artist - I love him dearly and I know Marley is happy to have a playmate.
