Just wanted to send you a few pictures of Sadie (was Sharon) and give you an update. She has settled in great. I think this past week she is really understanding that she is not going anywhere and getting more comfortable and confidant, it has been a month. She didn't seem to want to play with toys and balls and last week she started to chase balls in the yard with our 3 year old and play with a little stuffy we gave her. She gets along well with our big dog, she has to tell him off once in a while as he can be a bit rough but she knows how to stand her ground and she can run so fast that she chases him or he tries to catch her, it is very comical.
She has had a few times where she eats too much food she finds on the floor from the little ones and throws it all up, so I think she must have been hungry or had to fight for food at some point, I hope she eventually realizes that food will always be available to her. She even eats peas which most dogs avoid in stews and such so she certainly likes all food, and she will clean up spilled Cheerios which is helpful as our big dog always leaves them:) She is super cuddly and has slept on one of our beds right from the first night, she climbs right under the covers and snuggles, usually with our oldest or me, but she will take whatever bed is through an open door and snuggle with its occupant readily. She is so warm and cozy I have slept so well with her, like a little hot water bottle!
We got her a little sweater and need to get her a warmer coat, I keep laughing at her shivering away in the mornings while she stares at me not wanting to potty but to go back to her warm bed, I tell her "baby girl you haven't seen nothing yet, wait for the snow!" She has already learned to sit, so now we need to work on "stay" as she will run out the front door if we are not careful. We make sure to pick her up or put her behind a baby gate now before we open the door.
She has made several trips to Gramma and Papa's too and already knows that big brown eyes staring at Gramma will get you a treat. She gets along fine with my parents very dominant Yorkie, they basically ignore each other which was a surprise as the Yorkie likes to boss all the male dogs in the family around. She went camping with us too a few weeks ago and had fun, she enjoyed lots of walks and also snuggles from everyone in the extended family, she stole all their hearts. She comes with us every afternoon to pick our oldest 3 kids up from school and learned the routine very fast so how she runs into the garage and into the van right away, then waits for the kids and wags her tail like crazy as soon as she spots them coming towards our van!
Thank you for taking care of her, she is such a joy and just a perfect match for our family with her busy playful silly self but always ready to snuggle and settle down with any of us for a cozy cuddle. Please forward this on to her other foster too so she can see how well she is doing. I just cant fathom why this little girl didn't have a family, except that she was meant to be with us! Adopting a dog has been one of the best experiences and the only way to add a dog to a family in my opinion, she is amazing and we are so in love with her!
Many thanks for your kindness~Marcie, Mike, Michaelyn, Avery, Noah, Eden and Emme (Sadie, Finnegan and Princess too)
