We are so pleased to welcome SUGAR to our home all the way from Texas in May 2013! It has now been 2 months since SUGAR came to us and we quickly discovered she is such a smart little terrier who is always eager to please her owners. Although she is small and can look vulnerable with those big brown eyes, she is a feisty, determined and fearless little dog and we love that about her. She adapted to us and her new home very quickly and takes great comfort and happiness in being the only household pet. Admittedly, we spoil her rotten and although she has numerous pet beds and stuffy soft toys to sleep with, she continues to sleep in my bed which is just fine. Although she was not a fan of rainy weather initially....a little rain coat we purchased for her solved that problem.
Although she arrived house trained, we continue to work with her on walking without pulling on the leash and socializing her to mind her manners with other pets. She has made great progress in both areas as she gets long walks daily around McKenzie Towne pond. She has even met a few fellow American playmates rescued by Little Mutts from Los Angeles! Sugar loves her treats, good premium dog food, car rides and the affection and care she receives from us. She makes us laugh with some of her crazy antics and high energy while still being respectful of her home. We are naturally protective of her given her unfortunate start in the USA which makes us hug her even more. Although we rescued her ...she ended up rescuing us and filling a large hole left by the death of our 15 year old pet a year ago. Many thanks to the folks at Little Mutts Rescue and those who interim foster for their commitment to finding homes for these unwanted pooches. I scratch my head in frustration wondering why anyone would not want and care for such a good little dog. I would certainly adopt again and have encouraged others to do so as an animal rights advocate.
