Our dear friends,
First of all, we would like to thank you all for taking care of our dear Californian princess, Bonnie. We renamed her Mishka with her middle name as Bonnie. When we first picked up Mishka from her foster mom on Wednesday, July 17 th we fell in love with her immediately. We had to return another dog that we had rescued in the spring because we found out that my son and I were allergic to him.
When we first had Mishka at our home with our 3.5 year old dog (another rescue from Cabo San Lucas) they got along wonderfully! Mishka is a very mellow little girl and Dino did try everything to get her to play with him. He would play with one of his stuffed toys and then brought it to Mishka and dropped it right in front of her. Then he would back away in hopes that Mishka would begin to play with him. Instead she rolled onto her back ready for her famous tummy rub!
Mishka gets along so well with everyone that she meets! She is shy but so loving and never “speaks her mind” to anyone. Thus far, Mishka has met our neighbors, the little boy that I tutor, his dad and my parents. We have met other people as we take her for walks in the community. She gets rave comments from all of the people that she meets!
We were saddened to hear about how Bonnie (Mishka) was found and came to your center. We are thrilled to find out how the Sheriff found her and brought her to you to be cared for. Mishka has a great desire to smell any plant that has “prickly” things – much to the dismay of her maman! She seldom barks and only cries when her maman leaves the house. Luckily, being a teacher, we are able to bond and spend much time together. I am trying to get Mishka to understand that each time I leave, I will do my utmost to come back (either in an hour or two or after I finish work).
We are so LUCKY to have rescued Mishka (which means “teddy bear” in Russian). She is a welcomed addition to our home! Thank you again for taking such good care of our baby! I know that she was missed once she left your center but please know that she will experience more LOVE than she most likely has never received on a consistent basis. Mishka does not really know how to play with a toy but has learned to love chewing on a rawhide bone! As I am writing this, Mishka is lying on our bed (where she comfortably sleeps) and is happily chewing on her bone!
I hope that this email will relieve any worries that you may have had regarding Mishka’s welfare. She is beautiful and completely loved by every one of us! I am enclosing a photo of Mishka so that you will never, ever forget about this precious dog.
With our deepest thoughts and appreciation,
Ron, Wendy, Alyssa, Nathan, Dino and of course Mishka
