I first met Minnie (I added an “e” to the end of her name) in August 2013 at an adopt-a-thon at Deerfoot Mall. There were lots of dogs to meet that day, but I was immediately drawn to Minnie and soon realized that she was the dog for me. I had recently suffered the loss of my beloved dog of 17 years earlier that year, and I was missing the love and companionship that a dog can bring. Minnie came home in early September and it wasn’t long before we were the best of friends!
Minnie settled in quickly and it didn’t take her long to adjust to her new daily routine. She made friends with my daughter’s dogs (who come over for doggie “playdates” often), although she is on the bossy side and she is always trying to tell the other dogs what to do - including the dog that is four times her size!
Minnie has a huge personality for such a little squirt (11lbs) and is often too smart for her own good. She loves to play with her squeaky toys and all of the other dog’s squeaky toys – she is quite the little toy thief. She really enjoys going on walks and running around in the backyard on nice days. On cold days she loves to lounge in front of the fireplace or bury herself deep under the blankets and sleep the day away.
I am so happy that Minnie has come into my life and I look forward to many years ahead with her. I would like to thank Little Mutts Rescue and I would also like to give a special thank you to Kim, her foster mom for taking such great care of her.
Sincerely,
Marleen
