Dear Little Mutts Rescue,
It has been 3 months since we adopted Pinkachu, now named Hazelnut. From day 1 she captured our hearts with her cute scruffy face and little tail wags. She has been the perfect fit into our family and companion for our 5 year old cairn terrier Pheebe. Hazel is the sweetest little dog but is very fearful around new situations and larger dogs. We have been working with a private trainer to help her gain confidence and calmness. In the short time that she has been with us, we have seen great improvement with her! In fact, Hazel and Pheebe accompany me at work 2 to 3 days a week. At the office, she is exposed to new situations, other (larger) dogs, new people and lots of love and attention.
It took a few weeks for Hazelnut to really settle in and feel comfortable with her new settings. If it was up to her, she would shadow me or Pheebe all day. I’m not sure that she really knows what playing and toys are, but Pheebe always tries to include her in any game! She has only really let loose a handful of times, and it’s an amazing sight. I can’t help but smile when I see her tearing around the dog park or hopping like a rabbit through a field. I’m not sure how she’ll do in 3 feet of snow, but at least she’ll be the best dressed dog on the block!
We feel so lucky to have her and can’t imagine any other pup joining our family.
Thank-you for trusting her with us,
Julianne and David
